College uniform policy
All students should attend their first day of term in the school uniform. There is no need to wear it to orientation.
The UWCSEA school dress code is not restricted by gender. Students are able to wear any combination of the UWCSEA
uniform, including any sports uniforms.
We ask that all students comply with our uniform policy to maintain the good image of UWCSEA in the community.
On non-uniform days students should choose their clothing mindfully, refraining from revealing items, and or
inappropriate logos / language.
Students with excessive makeup may be asked to remove it.
If a student has a legitimate reason to be out of uniform for a short period of time, a note should be directed to the
respective Head of Grade.
Students who repeatedly ignore these guidelines may be sent home.
Infant School – Kindergarten 1 to Grade 1
Clothing
All students wear a turquoise polo shirt, with grey culottes or shorts. A school cardigan is
also available.
Shoes
Shoes should fully enclose the feet and Velcro straps are preferred so students can be
independent. Sports shoes / runners are permitted.
PE uniform
The UWCSEA PE Uniform consists of a PE polo top and shorts and is expected to be worn
for all PE activities.
Sturdy trainers (athletic shoes) with Velcro fasteners are required for nearly all PE
activities. They should offer adequate foot support and have non-marking soles. On PE
days, Infant School students can wear their PE uniform to school for the whole day.
Students should bring a water bottle to all PE lessons to remain hydrated. For outdoor
lessons they will be required to wear a hat, and sunscreen should be applied before they
leave home in the morning.
Students participate in swimming lessons during the year and should wear fitted
swimwear, goggles (optional) and swim cap. A UV rashguard for sun protection is highly
recommended and can be purchased from the College Shop.
If a student is unable to participate physically for any particular reason, we still encourage
them to wear their PE uniform as they can still participate in the lesson in an alternative
role.
Backpack
We recommend that Infant School students have a backpack that measures
approximately H:40cm, W:35cm, D:14cm, to ensure that it is large enough to
accommodate all the necessary items a child needs but will still fit in their cubby hole in
the classroom. UWCSEA backpacks are available for sale in the College Shop.
We request that Infant School students not have backpacks on wheels as they have
proved dangerous when children have to negotiate stairs—and also they do not fit into
the cubby holes, meaning the classroom becomes crowded and difficult to navigate.
Sun protection
Students need to wear a hat when outside. Students can wear this for play-time and other
outside activities. Students without a hat are required to play in shaded areas.
Jewellery and hair
Although we prefer no jewellery at all, Infant School students are permitted to wear one pair of earrings and a watch to
